MARCH THOUGHTS 2008©

MARCH THOUGHTS 2008©

March is named for Mars, mythical god of war.
Known best for its Ides and St. Patrick’s Day, and normally very little more.

March, a turbulent time, with weather always changing.
A time for Spring house cleaning, and furniture rearranging.

Tis the time for the Irish, and St. Paddy’s Day.
Time for corned beef and cabbage' and for some a bit too much o’ beer.
Look closely the day after, in the morn’, to see who’s had too much o' cheer.

This year, Easter is within the month of March, living its promises every day,
Easter is all about reliving the ultimate Gift, the absolute Sacrifice,
the exquisite giving of Love, He lived, He died, He lives again today.
All Praises to our ever living Lord, our God, who for us goes all the way.

Spring begins it's annual pilgrimage, as always, in March again you’ll see.
A time of renewal and new beginning, flowers begin blooming and buds are on the tree.

As March departs, either like a lion or a lamb, pleasant days soon lie ahead and spirits start to soar. If April coming up, didn’t include tax time, we’d like it even more.

No Resolutions, No Procrastination

No Resolutions, No Procrastination©

Avoid the rush, when you do not procrastinate.
If you don't say you will, or even that you might.
All days pass easier by, without a sleepless night.

Thoughts Spoken

Thoughts Spoken©

It is often not the thoughts spoken,
but the thoughts never expressed,
that hurt others the most.

The Spirit of Giving

The Spirit of Giving©

The spirit of giving of one’s self for the comfort of others is a great gift at all times of the year.

All Too Soon

All Too Soon©

All too soon and more quickly now, our old friends depart our presence,
leaving us the loss of their company and accessibility;

but in return, they leave us sweet memories, of another time, a time of youth and friendship, and promise and hope.

That is enough for us now, until once again we meet in that place of eternal promise and hope.

The Fireplace

The Fireplace©

I loved our fireplace at home in NW PA in the 40’s, 50’s and 60’ while growing up there; the cheery fire, my Mom playing piano, my grandfather playing his fiddle and harmonica, singing old carols, folk tunes and enjoying one another’s company, but I am reminded also of the labor required to fuel and clean and the cold draft when not burning, and; well, the other side of things of joy, the balance in our experience and lives.

The Trees are Singing©

The Trees are Singing©

Wait, shhhh, what is that? It sounds like singing.
Shhhh, there it is again. It is coming from the trees.

The trees are singing; the Birch, the Oak, the Aspen.
How can it be? I did not know that could happen.

Ah, yes, of course, the winds are choreographing
the Maple, the Cottonwood, the Sumac, the Pine.
All together the trees are singing, it’s not only in my mind.

The branches and limbs, now join this woodland dance.
Leaves keeping time, as all nature joins joyously in their song
Their music, the singing of the trees, has put me in a trance.

Wait, shhhh, what is that? It sounds like singing.
Shhhh, there it is again. It is coming from the trees.

February Ramblings

February Ramblings©

Procrastination©

Remember, February is the month,
you said this past July,
would be the month you’d get done, those chores you put off,
surely you didn’t lie.

Valentine©

Roses are red, Violets are blue,
or so it says in rhyme, for someone you hold dear.
Once a year, is not enough to say, what should be said all the time,
repeated throughout the year.

Dead Presidents©

Celebrated this month, a special day,all Presidents honored,
with words so bright & sunny.
But for us, my friends, the ones of importance,
have their pictures on our money.

Winter Wears On©

The New Year is now nearly two month’s gone
and Winter’s wearing heavily on my mind.
I look for relief and solace, anywhere I can.
Only one more month, until Daylight Saving time.
